The Nashville Women’s rugby club was founded in 1996 and currently competing in Division 2. The name “Stone Lion” is attributed to the club’s favorite bar in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Since 2011 the Stone Lions have hotly contested for South Division 2 Championship which resulted in a first place finish during the 2014 season.
The club believes in, “promoting a lifelong companionship among players.” They invite everyone regardless of size or playing experience to come and check them out. The Stone Lions currently hold open practices at Ezell Park Tuesday and Thursday nights from 7-9pm.
Rugby is emerging as a popular sport in the south. Nashville, Tennessee is no exception. The Stone Lions currently take supplements to help performance and recovery time but looked to partner with a company dedicated to rugby players.
