Hawaii native becomes our first full-time employee

The Ruck Science team is growing. Today, we are pleased to announce the addition of our first full-time employee. OurĀ new Marketing/Partnerships manager is Christoper Reed and he’ll be heading things up at our office in central Austin.Ā

Chris’ Background

Chris, as he prefers, is of Polynesian decent and joins us from the ‘Big Island’ of Hawaii. He also spent time growing up in southern California and Laie, Hawaii. While being raised, Chris participated in football, wrestling, and track & field. It wasn’t until high school that a passion for rugby sprouted. That is where it all started and how he ended up with Ruck Science.

Following his high school graduation in 2010 and a two-year hiatus, Chris traveled to St. Charles, MO where he received an athletic scholarship to Lindenwood University.

During his time with Lindenwood, he made a name for himself on the pitch with big hits andĀ a mongrel mentality at tight-head prop. Chris helped Lindenwood reach the D1AA National Championship and the last two Final FourĀ appearances in D1A rugby. He has also spent considerable time playing for a top-rankedĀ club side, Kansas City Blues and recently returned from a summer internship at the beautiful Alaska Mountain Rugby Grounds.

While not on the field representing Lindenwood, Chris would be in the classroom as an Advertising & Public Relations major. Chris also spent time as a sports writer for the student newspaper and served as Vice-President for a campus organization.

Role at Ruck Science

Given his background in Advertising & PR along with the time spent as a sports writer, Ruck Science thought he would be a perfect hire for our Marketing/Partnership manager position. Chris will be responsible for developing and maintaining partnerships with and between Ruck Science and amateur rugby clubs. Writing and editing marketing, sales, website and blog content. Shooting, editing, and uploading videos to the web. Managing social media schedules, posts, and profiles. Developing and managing social and online advertising campaigns and budgets.

Chris is looking forward to his time here, “I am beyond excited to be working for Ruck Science. Their sponsorship program is a great way to assist rugby clubs in their management endeavors.”

Ruck Science is pleased to have Chris apart of our team and looking forward to many years of having him around. Cheers Chris!
