When we first started making donations to rugby clubs, we thought most of them would be sent to Men’s clubs. Boy were we wrong! Today, we are happy to announce that we have started working with our 3rd women’s college program. The first two being Tulane and the OU Roses. But as of next month, we’ll also be contributing monthly donations to the University of Alabama Women’s rugby club. We look forward to helping grow their club and seeing them be successful both on and off the field. Please continue reading to see the specifics of the deal and how it will help to grow the game of rugby at the University of Alabama. Ruck Tide!
The University of Alabama Women’s Rugby Club is a relatively recent addition to the school, having been established in 2009. But since that time, the club has grown tremendously in popularity and participation. The team is now comprised of students from all areas of study and athletic backgrounds–from cheerleaders and horseback riders to dancers and yes, even soccer players. The team doesn’t have try-outs or combines to select players. As they say on their website, “if you come out, like it, and stick around, then you’re on the team. Absolutely no experience is necessary!”

Ruck Science doesn’t do many traditional sporting sponsorships. In fact, the only two organizations we’ve given cash directly to are the Texas Rugby Union and the Texas Rugby Referee Association. For everyone else though, we offer a completely inclusive sponsorship program through which we intend to sponsor every rugby club on the planet. The UA women’s program will receive their first cash donation from Ruck Science in November and hopefully another one every month thereafter. Whenever a player or supporter makes a purchase on staging-rucksciencecom.kinsta.cloud, they’re prompted to enter the name of their rugby club during the checkout process. We use this information to pay donations via Paypal on the 15th of the following month.
The UA Women’s club has a healthy rivalry with another one of our sponsored club, the Tulane women’s rugby club. So today’s video is actually a full length game between the two teams, enjoy!
