Please welcome the Augusta Mad Dogs to the group of clubs that weāll be sending monthly donations to. Augusta RFC become one of the first clubs in the South to join our sponsorship program. Read on to learn more about the Mad Dogs and how weāll be helping them to grow their supporter and player base over the next few years.
The Augusta Rugby Football Club is one of the foremost rugby union clubs in the state of Georgia. The ARFC competes in USA Rugby Southās second division competition. The club has been around since the early days of 1973 when two undergrads at the Medical College of Georgia started a rugby term. āMad Dogsā actually comes from the abbreviation MD meaning Medical Doctor. The Mad Dogs have played all over Augusta since their inception. In the years after 1973, the team has played on football, soccer polo and softball fields.

āUltimately, ARFC finalized an agreement with the city of Augusta, GA to lease unused property near downtown Augusta which led to the construction of Larry Bray Memorial Pitch, named after the late long-time āold boyā Larry Bray. The inaugural match was played on September 19, 2009 against Jacksonville Rugby with Augusta pulling out the win in the closing minutes of a very exciting match.ā

The Augusta Rugby Club has by far the most extensive online store for a rugby club that weāre come across. Honestly, there are SuperRugby teams who could learn a thing or two from this.
