Today, we have the great honor of announcing a new club partnership, this time with one of the most storied rugby clubs in Georgia. The Columbus / Fort Benning, Cruise-a-Matics will begin receiving donations from Ruck Science on the 15th of March. And with a little organization, youâll also be seeing us at the infamous Hotter than Hell 7s tournament to be held in June.

The Cruise-a-Matics were originally a rugby 7s club. How many clubs can say that? They were first formed as a touring 7s side on Independence Day, July 4, 1983. While they didnât immediately see a huge swell in numbers, their founding members Jim Cross and Claude Betbeze toiled hard to grow the club through the 1980s to the point now where theyâre well known right across the country.
Much of the clubâs notoriety comes from whatâs become the unofficial 7s tournament of the deep south, the Hotter Than Hell 7s. Past entrants include our partners at Old Maroon who have competed several times and were qualifying runners-up in 2004. The tournament is well known for its blazing temperatures which take a huge toll on the players who participate.
