New England, here we come! Today, we’re happy to say that we have a foothold in the Northeast thanks to a new partnership with the Worcester Rugby Football club. The non-profit organization was founded in 1979 by a group of local who were keen to provide rugby to the local community. At this time, we’d like to thank Rob Anderson, Peter Coz, and Mike Minty for all their hard work in getting Worcester RFC up and running. Fantastic job guys, you should all be very proud. As of this month, Worcester will begin receiving donations from Ruck Science in accordance with our sponsorship program as part of our mission to sponsor every rugby club on the planet.
While many rugby clubs have a strict, “playing-first” philosophy, Worcester RFC is a little different. Their recruitment and development programs are aimed at empowering inner-city children and young adults in the Worcester area. The mission of the club is to provide positive change in the community by giving local youngsters life skills as well as rugby skills. For more than 35 years, the club has been promoting physical well-being and social skills through rugby.
One of the marks of a great rugby club is growth. And Worcester are no different. The Club offers several youth programs: Rookie Rugby for boys and girls aged 6 to 14; Spartan Rugby for boys under 19 and Clover Rugby for girls under 23. These local rugby programs are open to young rugby players of all abilities and focus on providing a safe, organized environment for at-risk kids to learn important team-building, social, and life skills. Since they began running these programs in 1985, the club has seen hundreds of kids benefit from this inclusive environment.
How can you get involved with Worcester RFC? Firstly, we suggest taking a look at their schedule – if it turns out that you can be available on these dates for matches, take the time to pay your dues here so you’re covered by the club’s and USA Rugby’s insurance.
Since they do such fantastic work in the local community, it makes sense that we should all be trying to support Worcester RFC in their expansion. Here are a few simple ways to do that:
